Multi-talented Chef Xiameng Liu, transforms the landscape of Dubai’s Asian cuisine as we know it. Zengo, meaning ‘give and take’ in Japanese, offers diners an artful blend of recreated Asian styles and flavours, creating a unique menu concept and an unexpected dining experience.
Chef Liu, is an energetic and passionate chef with more than 12 years experience in the culinary industry. Born in China and raised in Sydney, Chef Liu took a keen interest in food from the early age of five and was later immersed into the kitchen in 2004 where he worked part-time in a Malaysian restaurant in Sydney, lending a helping hand behind the scenes.
In 2012, Chef Liu took the position of Sous Chef, an integral part of the pre-opening team for W Guzngzhou, where he was responsible for running the all-day dining restaurant. Next, he stole the show as Chef de Cuisine at Spice Market by Jean-George at the W Hotel in Doha and earned a number of top awards including the 2015 Highly Recommended South-East Asian Restaurant Award and the 2016 Best Asian Restaurant Award. Under the chef’s leadership, the restaurant’s TripAdvisor ranking of best restaurants in Doha, went from 13th place overall to amongst the Top five, within just seven months. Throughout his career, Liu has gained extensive experience and knowledge in Sydney, Guangzhou, Macau and Doha to name a few, adding to his already impressive repertoire.
In his role at Zengo, Chef Liu will oversee all culinary operations, conceptualising and developing the latest innovative menus and ensuring delivery of exceptional food to guests at Zengo. Chef Liu will also be working closely alongside the legendary Chef Richard Sandoval to implement the new dining concept, as well as seeking out ingredients and flavours that speak for themselves.
Chef Liu brings his expertise and creativity to Zengo and is focused on delivering world-class dining experiences for the hotel’s in-house guests and outside diners.
